Dr. Helen Walker McAndrew
Description
Helen Walker McAndrew, also known as Dr. Helen, was Washtenaw county's first female doctor, earning her medical degree from Trail Institute in New York City in 1855. Aside from being a highly regarded physician and the operator of the "Rest for the Weary" Water Cure Sanitarium on, Dr. Helen was active in local organization supporting women's suffrage and temperance.
